John Serrato
John Serrato’s career spans more than 30 years of experience in the IT sector. He has led world-class information-technology organizations as CIO/VP and worked extensively on business transformation via technology innovation. He has a proven track record of achieving outstanding results in complex and fast-moving environments. His key to success has been his ability to establish close and productive working relationships with his customers, investors, and suppliers.
John Serrato started his career with Levi Strauss and Company and during his 22-year tenure John worked in several increasingly important management positions before becoming the Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa based in Brussels, Belgium for 8 years. During that time John led the transformation of the IT organization, infrastructure, and applications in support of a major EMEA business re-engineer project, which streamlined design, manufacture, warehousing shipping, and invoicing of products.
After LS&Co., John joined Richemont International – one of the world’s leading luxury goods groups (Cartier, Piaget, Mont Blanc), based in Geneva – in the newly created role of Group Chief Information Officer. John began the transformation toward a global group IT strategy and organization structure; implementing standard IT budget and procurement processes, leading the move toward a standard infrastructure and a shared service-model, and establishing the strategy to implement a standard application across the group based on SAP.
After Richemont, John moved to the Public Sector in the humanitarian arena, joining the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the newly created role of Global Chief Information Officer. During his four years at the agency, he led the development of a comprehensive IT strategy, which included the strategic outsourcing of satellite and terrestrial networks, outsourced application hosting and the implementation of a common global application in over 150 offices in 100 countries based on PeopleSoft. He also worked on key cross-agency groups: participating as a Board Director for the International Computing Center, the UN IT Strategy Council and held the Chairmanship for two years for the International Organization Customer Advisory Board; to identify and implement collaboration and cost efficiency across the United Nation system. John joined Microsoft Corp. in June 2008 as a Senior Director, General Manager, for Microsoft Online Service in EMEA and is currently working in Microsoft Consulting Service based in the Washington DC area.
John received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of San Francisco, McLaren Business School.
